Site-Specific Art
Andy Goldsworthy is my main inspiration, but this art form is executed by a large number of people. The creations
are inspired by the location and the materials available there. For me, it's design, construction and sculpture in an
improvisational format. No rules, no restrictions. I gave a presentation of my work at St. Louis Pecha Kucha 14.

At the Mad Art Gallery, STL Pecha Kucha 14, I presented my site-art creations in the 20 slides / 20 seconds format. It went well. Click the link to see it.

In a creek bed, Catawissa, MO.

Low river conditions allowed me to create this piece on an exposed jetty out in the river.

Created in August in a dry creek bed. One month later conditions were rainy and this location was underwater.

Created on this hillside when I couldn't work in the creek because the water was running high.

The artists that flowed through this creation were: Andy Goldsworthy, Mark di Suervo, Alexander Calder and Dr. Suess.

Location's important. The roots were the reason to create here.

The frozen water reminded me of a spring coming from a cave. A friend helped with the multiple seasons photos.

An abundance of fallen trees and branches were the materials available at this site.

A creek and the abundance of fallen trees prompted me to enclose/cover the creek in the manner of a beaver den.

A large hole in the roots of this fallen tree prompted me to build up and around it.

This grove of cedars gave me the feeling of a sanctuary.

Trees and branch clipping evolved into this. I attempted to enhance the feeling of a sanctuary with this addition.

What if a fallen tree from the creek bank had continued to grow, further down the creek. That's how this piece started.

This video shows you the length and placement of the piece.
